A small peak with excellent views for adventurous hikers
This October has been unusually dry, so we went out for a new hike while the season lasted. With other hikers reporting that the larches were almost done, we chose Mount Forgotten just to check off another peak on the Smoot list.

The route follows a rocky trail that climbs the Perry Creek Valley, then switchbacks up to the Mount Forgotten meadow. That's where you reach the crux of the 200 ft descent route. It isn't horrible, just loose and need to pay more attention. After that, we circled around to the back side of Mount Forgotten on a somewhat well defined climber's trail. Once you reach a flat area, ascend a gully to the top.

From what I've heard, the true summit is the first one you reach. Other climbers have run some experiments and determined that the most easily gained summit is also the highest.
